Social Investment Business has today announced the appointment of four new board members. The appointments follow on from the recent announcement of Hazel Blears as their new Chair.
As existing board members Fred Worth and Anthony Cann step down, alongside current Chair Sir Stephen Bubb, the board will be strengthened by the appointments of Jeremy Nicholls, Jenny North, Jim Rice and Julie Currie. They all join the board on April 1st 2016.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joined on the board by such a high calibre group. Each brings tremendous experience and expertise to an already talented team.
Together we can tackle some of the big challenges we face in social investment such as improving impact measurement and getting money where it is needed most.”
Rt Hon Hazel Blears, New Chair, Social Investment Business
Each of the new members bring a broad range of experience to the board. Jeremy Nicholls is the Chief Executive of Social Value UK and Social Value International. He is also a director of the FRC Group (a social business based in Liverpool), and a member of several sector advisory groups and panels.
Jenny North is Director of Policy and Strategy at Impetus – The Private Equity Foundation. She leads their research and campaigning and has written widely on how to support organisations to improve on delivering social impact, alongside financial returns, including for the UK Advisory Board to the G8 Social Impact Investing Taskforce.
Joining Jeremy and Jenny will be Jim Rice, a qualified solicitor and former partner at Linklaters, the international law firm. Jim is a trustee at a number of other charities and Chair of Governors at a school for pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Julie Currie is Chief Financial and Operating Officer at the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England & Wales, the largest corporate foundation in the UK. There she leads the repayable finance strategy for the Foundation, supporting small and medium sized charities. Prior to this, she worked for 19 years in the financial services industry in a variety of roles.
“I will be sad to see Fred, Anthony and Sir Stephen step down from the board as they have been a tremendous help to me over the past four years. Their challenge and counsel has always been helpful and their experience will be missed.
I was delighted to see the quality of applicants we received and this is reflected in the appointments we have made. I am looking forward to working with the new team.”
