SIB to host event with the Institute for Government at Conservative Party Conference focusing on levelling up
The levelling up agenda is very ambitious, and the government has explicitly acknowledged that making progress on its 12 missions requires contributions from businesses and the social economy as well as government action. For that to happen, the government will need to incentivise, support and collaborate with those other sectors. This event will ask what policies the government should prioritise to help businesses and the social economy to support levelling up and how government can work effectively on joint projects with them.
We’re bringing together some really interesting speakers from across central and regional government, the business community and the social economy, including:
- Paul Scully MP, Minister of State at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and Minister for London
- Rt Hon Hazel Blears, Chair of the Board for Social Investment Business
- Ed Cox, Executive Director for Strategy, Integration and Net Zero at West Midlands Combined Authority
- Sara Williams, CEO of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce
This event will be chaired by Thomas Pope, Deputy Chief Economist at the Institute for Government.
